The other day, we went hiking with Melanie and Stuart and their kids. It was the first time we had taken them on a real hike! Spencer LOVED it, and Mimi loved it at times but struggled with the roar of the river and some of the bugs. She panicked for good when she saw a small rattle snake cross in front of her! At that point she screamed when ever she saw a tree root, or when bugs flew by her face. It was a fun "first hike". Spencer carried his stuffed kitty all the way up and snuggled with it when we got to the half way mark (the point at which we turned around and came back) 1.5 miles into the hike. In all we think we walked about three miles that day!

St. Patrick's Day
It was fun telling Spencer and Mimi about St. Patrick's day. They thought it was fun wearing green and were nervous about pinching people for not wearing green. Spencer asked Spring about it saying, "Mom, if today is St. Patrick's Day, when is St. Sponge Bob's Day?" We got a lot of good laughs out of that. Although I was at work that day, Spring took the kids over to my parent's home and they made a traditional green St. Patrick's day meal complete with eggs and pancakes. It was a FUN dinner and the kids LOVED helping out.
Bread Day
Spring's parents told us one evening all about the days when they were first married. They talked about how money was extremely tight and that they had to improvise in order to make ends meet. One of the things they did to save money that became a small tradition in their early years was bread making. They'd each make their own loaves and have competitions to see whose loaf was best. For judging the best loaves, they'd have friends come and taste them after which, they'd give friends a free loaf. Sounded like a lot of fun but they haven't done it in YEARS so we decided to have them teach us and we'd have a bread making competition day. It was a LOT of fun and the bread was delicious too.
Dancing in "The Dance Room"
Spring's parents have an electric piano in their front room. The kids LOVE turning it on and playing music for them to dance to. Spencer likes the fast upbeat music to which he runs and jumps to, and Mimi likes the slower melodic music to which she can dance like a princess to. It is so fun to watch them dance. They are adorable. We really need to get Mimi back into a dance class again. She misses it so bad. Once we get settled in Oklahoma, we hope to find something for her. Spencer just wants to play Soccer or Baseball. This is a fun time to be parents!
